Text: John 5:2-9 “Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda,[a] having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.[b] 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” 7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.”
What happens when it is your time for God’s intervention?
1. Nothing can stop your breakthrough.
Hebrews 2:4 says “God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will”
Romans 1:17 says “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Galatians 3:11 says “But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
Hebrews 10:38 “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
You need to have faith as it pleases God but know that He can move in your life with or without your faith.
Psalm 115:3 says “But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.”
Isaiah 43:13 “Indeed before the day was, I am He; And there is no one who can deliver out of My hand; I work, and who will reverse it?”
So when God has made up His mind, Even your unbelief cannot stop it.
2. Your doubts will not be able to stand on the way.
Mark 11:23 says “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Speak to that mountain of doubt in your life to give way.
James 1:5-7 says “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;”
Genesis 18:9-14, Abraham was told to tell Sarah that they will have a son. At this time she was 90 years old. Sarah’s doubt could not stand in the way of heir miracle.
Psalm 33:8-9 “Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.”
Prayer: Today, Lord, override my doubts in Jesus name
3. Your history will not stand in the way.
The man in our text has been there for 38 years, waiting for healing. He has failed several times when the opportunity came to get into the water and receive his healing. He had an history of failures but this did not stop his miracle when his time came.
Psalm 90:2 says “Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” God owns our history.
Rev. 1:8 ““I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Genesis 17:1-18, Abraham laughed and fell on his face, yet he was called the father of faith.
Prayer: Father, rewrite my history today. Everything in my history that could stop me from getting my breakthrough, Lord rewrite it.
4. When your day comes, your enemies cannot not stop your miracle.
Mark 10:46-52 tells of when when Jesus Healed Blind Bartimaeus despite those around him trying to silence him and stop him getting the attention of Jesus.
5. When your day comes even your friends will not be able to stand on your way.
Mark 5:35-42 tells of how the friends of Jairus came to him and told him to forget about Jesus as his daughter was already dead. if he had listened to them, he would have missed his miracle. But Jesus stepped in and Jarius’ daughter was healed.
It is your time!! Hallelujah!
