Calvary greetings in the name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who has made it possible for us to come into the month of September 2011 in Our Year of Great Expectation (Rom. 4:18-19). God declared unto us that we should expect great things this year, that “all will be well”. Our Covenant keeping God has been faithful to His Word and we give Him all the glory. Therefore, in this month of September, we shall be cele-brating the faithfulness of God who is also The Almighty, the King of Kings and the Creator of Heaven and Earth. God will always remain loyal to that which He has promised you because He cannot lie. Num. 23:19 says “God is not a man that should lie.” Isn’t that amazing!
The dictionary defines “faithful” as remaining loyal and steadfast, being reliable. The Bible declares in Deu-teronomy 7:9 that “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth cove-nant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.” Our God remains faithful. His faithfulness is because of His great Name, because of His great Power. In fact, He is dependable and reliable. He keeps covenant to a thousand generations. If He makes a promise to you, He will still remain steadfast to that promise, to your children’s children for a thousand generations.
Interestingly, God cannot deny Himself. 2 Timothy 2:13 says “If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” He is faithful to fulfil promises. In Luke 1:5-20, Zechariah disbelieved God because of his old age but whether he believed or not, God still proved Himself because God cannot deny Himself. In Gen. 18:12-14, Sarah laughed at the declaration of God but God still gave Isaac to her and Abraham. The Bible says in Lamentation 3:22-23, “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his com-passions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Great indeed is the faithfulness of the Almighty God. In Isaiah 7:14, it was declared that a virgin shall conceive. God said it and it came to pass.
The psalmist declares in Psalm 89:8 that “O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee?” In Psalm 36:5 it is said that the faithfulness of God reaches to the heav-ens. In fact in Gal. 4:4 and Luke 1:34-37 once God says it, it is settled for with God nothing is impossible. There may be trouble all around you but there will not be a single scar on you (Job 5:19). In fact, He will never allow his faithfulness to fail (Psalm 89:30-33).
Therefore, be reminded this month that we really serve a faithful God. 1 Cor. 1:9 says “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord”. He is faithful in forgiveness (Psalm 119:75). I urge you this season to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling for it is God which works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Phil. 2:12-13). God is a faithful God
