Calvary greetings in the name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who has made it possible for us to come into the month of October 2011 in Our Year of Great Expectation (Rom. 4:18-19). God declared unto us that we should expect great things this year, and that “all will be well”. Our Covenant keeping God has been faithful to His Word and we give Him all the glory. Therefore, in this month of October, we shall be celebrating the Excellence of God who is also The Almighty, the King of Kings and the Creator of Heaven and Earth.
Psalm 8:1 says “O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.”
The dictionary defines ‘excellent’ as extremely good. This season God will be extremely good to you as He displays His excellence in your life in Jesus Name.
To be able to praise the Lord Jesus Christ, as you ought, you must make Him yours personally, endeavour to know Him intimately. You need to know Him as YOUR excellent God and expect Him to be good to YOU as well as your neighbour. As you become aware of His power, glory, loving kindness Psalms 63:3, greatness, mighty acts, majesty, goodness, compassion (Psa. 145:1-9) you will have a joy that is everlasting. (Isa. 35;10)
Do you ever wonder that such a mighty God can listen to prayers and petitions from ants like us? And not only listen, but bother to answer too. No wonder he has a name above every name, He lives forever, unchangeable, able to save His own to the uttermost, absolutely holy and yet harmless, higher than the heavens and yet so humble. O Lord our God, how excellent is Thy Name!
We as humans are made in God’s image (Gen. 1:26). Therefore, just as He is excellent, we too must show forth His Excellence in our life endeavours and ministry! If we are to represent an excellent God, we must vigorously shake off every vestige of mediocrity. We must make life work and this month we will be sharing a series on how to make life work so that we can show forth His excellence to the world.
Author Dr. Robb Thompson stresses, “Excellence is a journey, not a destination” — a journey to be pursued with passion, leading you to higher levels, in your personal walk and ministry, than you ever dreamed possible!
This month, let your motto be “O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!”
