Calvary greetings in the name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who has made it possible for us to come to the month of August. This is the season of new beginnings and therefore, the Almighty God has declared to us that we shall testify of His Awesome Glory (Exodus 15:11). Get ready to encounter God in a new dimension in Jesus name.
In the Bible, after the children of Israel have seen the mighty acts of God in parting the Red Sea, Moses led God’s children in declaring that “Who among the gods is like you, O LORD? Who is like you–majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” (Exodus 15:11, NIV). Our God is really awesome indeed. The Bible in Psalm 68:35 exhorts that “O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places. The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people” (NKJV). In the story of the children of Israel, though Pharaoh and his horsemen were behind them and a Red Sea in front of them, God spoke through His servant Moses saying, “…Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever (Ex. 14:13). Continuing, in Ex. 14:18, God said, “And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.”
To be awesome means being inspiringly fearful; an amazing experience or something that is characterized by fear or simply very impressive. Our God is really awesome in glory. The awesome God is mighty in power (Ephesians 1:19-23). Many scholars believe the Shekinah Glory that came down at the dedication of the temple was the cloud that was present. The cloud is there to hide the Most High because of His awesome magnificence. His pure light…glory would destroy man today. When Moses pled with God to show His glory, He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live” (Ex. 33:20). In Deuteronomy 3:24 Moses declares, “O Sovereign LORD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?” And the Psalmist declares in Psalm 19:1 that “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
The psalmist declares in Psalm 24:3-4 that, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.” To be able to stand before God, we must be a people of prayer. The highest ministry in the church is the ministry of intercession. Paul said pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17) and hence Jesus was always engaged in this. He said, ‘my house shall be a house of prayer’ (Matt. 21:13). Throughout the Bible, no one encountered God’s glory and still remained. There must be evidences such as genuine salvation; love, divine desires, power manifestations, a heart of gratitude and a renewed ability to walk in faith to attain His divine promises which are yea and amen (2 Cor. 1:20).
In all, know that in His presence is fullness of joy and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11). Make Him your Lord and Saviour.
